Adele’s 25: A musical sensation

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins is a musical sensation. With the release of her new album 25, Adele proves to us that even after her last album release in 2011, she has still got it going on. Adele has the whole musical package: Her vocal range and her capability of hitting those highs and lows. I have always been a fan of Adele ever since her debut album, 19, and she has continued to amaze her fans (myself included!) with her catchy tunes and spunky personality. She illuminates a great depth of power and emotion through her lyrics and her music.

At only 27, Adele has become one of the top songwriters and musicians of my generation. In contrast from other artists, Adele steps away from the limelight and focuses on her music, not her heightened fame.“I find fame quite frightening and I find it very toxic,” Adele told the Daily Mirror.

On November 20th, Adele’s 25 released and that day, the album sold 900,000 times on iTunes. Now, the album has sold over three million copies in the US.

With the first single “Hello,” I became instantly hooked and wanted more. This single became a world-wide number one hit and even broke a record set by *NSYNC’s No Strings Attached in 2000, which sold over 2.4 million copies in its first week.

Adele combines numerous instruments and sounds into each song on 25. Each song is carefully planned out and just flows beautifully. The album embodies her journey at 25-years-old. Her songs reflect on the emotions she experienced within her previous relationships, her journey with motherhood and her life, ups and downs included.

Adele connects and engages with her audience in 25. Her voice and charisma shows us that Adele is someone much older than 27, which works in her favour. I think she is an old soul.

As one of my top musical inspirations, Adele motivates me to continue working with my music and to play for the joy of it.

For me, Adele’s recent album is much more than just an album. It is a story and a beautiful ensemble of rhythms and words that come together.

A few of my favourites from this album are definitely “Hello,” “I Miss You,” “River Lea” and “Million Years Ago.”

If you haven’t, make the purchase. It’s one you won’t regret.
