Nova Scotia is jam packed with picturesque coastline. No matter which part you happen to find yourself in, you’re never more than a short drive from beautiful scenery. If you’re ever here, do yourself a favour – hop in a car and go for a drive. The best time (in my opinion) is about two-hours before sunset. Pick a coastal route and enjoy.
For today’s post, I took a drive through Hubbards, NS. Part of the Aspotogan Peninsula, Hubbards is a typical Nova Scotian community. Hubbards is very rural; beaches, fishing boats, and spectacular views are common in this area.
A small beach, somewhere on a dirt road.
The seagulls were very aware of my presence. They started making their way out further from the shore when I showed up.
This is a pretty familiar scene in Nova Scotia. Although the fishing industry here isn’t quite what it used to be, it is still a main source of work for many people.
I felt like this shot had a bit of a “Windows Background” feel to it.
A more established- and more colourful- fishing operation, further along the peninsula .
Blue boat or red boat?
Some of these scenes were a bit difficult for the camera to process. Shooting toward the sunlight can have a neat effect, but it’s difficult to manage.
I love this shot. It makes me want to hop on a motorcycle and drive that road.
The long shadows of magic hour are one of my favorite things to photograph. This shot is a perfect example of why!
